In sensitive cases, Facebook will provide chat details to Delhi Police.

The Social media giant Facebook will provide chat details to Delhi Police in sensitive cases, especially in cases related to women and children.

According to the report by The Indian Express, Facebook agrees to share chat detail with Delhi Police in sensitive cases, especially in cases related to crime against women and children. The decision took place in a meeting between Facebook's special team from the US and India and Delhi Police's cyber wing officers.

Currently, Facebook does not provide the details of private chats to the investigating officers.

“The meeting started at 11 am Friday in a conference hall of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), and ended at 3.30 pm after several rounds of discussion during which officers shared their problems with Facebook officials and also requested them to provide additional details while working cases,” a senior officer said.

Delhi Police officers also raised the issues regarding the delayed response from the social media site to their requests and asked them to respond in a shorter time span.

During the meeting, police personnel gave some examples to Facebook officials. According to an officer who attended the meeting, after hearing the concerns, Facebook had assured them that they will provide such details but only after considering the depth of the case, like if it relates to woman or child.
Police officers also asked to provide IP register, IP log, mobile number and emails when required.

We hope this can help to solve issues related to women and children.
